Paul Dufrene – Owner/ General Manager
Paul’s story is one of hard work, perseverance, and deep roots in both cattle and family. His love for ranching began with his grandfather, Harris Pierce, who taught him the value of faith, family, and livestock from an early age. Harris didn’t just teach Paul how to work cattle—he showed him what it meant to be a man of integrity, to care for the land, and to honor traditions worth passing down. Those lessons have stayed with Paul throughout his life, shaping not only the rancher he became but also the businessman, husband, father, and grandfather.
From 1978 to 2021, Paul owned and operated Dufrene Building Materials, a business that thrived under his leadership for more than four decades. Just as in ranching, he poured himself into the details—building relationships, ensuring quality, and always putting his customers first. Running a successful business for 43 years taught Paul the value of discipline, resilience, and accountability, traits that carried over seamlessly into his ranching life. Even while operating the business, his passion for cattle and the land never faded. Ranching was never a side job for Paul—it was in his blood, a calling that stayed with him from childhood on.
Now, with more than 40 years of hands-on ranching experience, Paul is fully committed to the work he loves most. He is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the ranch—whether that’s checking calves at daylight, improving pastures, studying cattle genetics, or working side by side with his crew in the pens. He knows that success in ranching doesn’t come from shortcuts, but from consistency, stewardship, and pride in your cattle.
At the heart of it all, Paul’s life is anchored by faith and family. He gives credit where it’s due—to God for guiding him through both the good years and the hard ones, and to the strong family around him that continues to carry forward the legacy he inherited from his grandfather. His cattle reflect that same commitment to excellence: quality bred into them, care invested in them, and a standard set high enough to honor the generations before him.
Paul’s journey—from learning the ropes alongside his grandfather, to building a business from the ground up, to dedicating himself full-time to ranching—paints a picture of a man who values tradition, hard work, and doing things the right way. For Paul, ranching isn’t just an occupation; it’s a life’s work, a passion, and a legacy that will endure through his family and his cattle for years to come.
